About us

We are a group of individuals who recognise the debt we all owe to those Military personnel and civilians who served and lived during WWII. It is because of their sacrifice that we can live the lives we do today and we are truly thankful.

We have a particular interest in the role that the United States Navy Shore Patrol played in maintaining order whilst sailors and others were on leave.

The Shore Patrol was the United States Navy Police who patrolled any location where US Navy personnel were on shore. They had numerous roles besides the obvious one of making sure that sailors behaved themselves. They checked that establishments were safe for Military personnel to use I.E clean, had good fire regs, served food and drink fit for human consumption and not was place of danger. Contrary to belief the role of the Shore Patrol was to persuede miltary personnel to behave, rather than beat them into order, a quiet word was the order of the day rather than a heavy hand!

You will see us in 3 different types of Uniform.

Liberty Blues, with white belt sets, baton and gaiters, some times with dixie caps sometimes with white helmets. Technically we should be in tan webbing belt sets and gaitors, but we chose the ceremonial whites as they look smarter.

Tropical Whites with tan belt sets and gaiters and black batons, some times with dixie caps sometimes with white helmets. .

Working rig, blue shirt and denim trousers with white belt sets, baton and gaiters, again some times with dixie caps sometimes with white helmets. .

We attend various 1940's events up and down the country, to educate people young and old about the role that the Shore Patrol carried out.

We also entertain re enactors and the general public by being a truly interactive group, that will check identity papers, leave pass's, ensure that military personnel are correctly dressed, assist others as required such as the local Policeman or other Miltary Police units and we "arrest" those that do not meet the correct standard. Do you have the correct ID?

We have our own professionally prepared risk assessments available for inspection and we have public liability insurance.

Two of us also have S.I.A (Security Industry Authority) door supervisor certificates, so we are qualified to man the door at your dance. You might not be aware that if you have anyone on the door of your dance who is not qualified and you are selling alcohol you can be fined up to £5000 and/or receive a 6 month prison sentence, so it makes sense to use us.

Mike O'Halloran was asked to leave the group on15th October 2007, he is in no way connected to our group.

We have 2 new members of the group.

Dave Goodwin who owns a USN painted Willys Jeep.

And by no means last, Anthony Clark, so welcome aboard shipmates.
